Question 2

Can my child attend a trial class before committing?

Question 5

Are dance exams compulsory at Aberdeen Academy of Performing Arts?

Accepted Answer

No, exams are completely optional. While having fun and being comfortable are at the core of our classes, taking exams offers great milestones and valuable UCAS points for secondary school pupils.

Question 6

What opportunities are there for shows, performances, and competitions?

Accepted Answer

Students can participate in annual ballet productions (such as The Nutcracker), musical theatre shows, and informal showcases. For students seeking extra commitment, we offer competitive dance teams representing AAPA regionally, nationally, and internationally (including trips to Disneyland Paris).

Question 7

How does the AAPA Children's Casting Agency work?

Accepted Answer

Our casting agency provides students with opportunities in TV series, commercials, and local campaigns (such as Mackie's of Scotland). Auditions are held annually and are open to students who have attended AAPA classes for at least one year.

Question 8

My child is nervous about starting – how can I help them ease in?

Accepted Answer

We encourage positive talk about making new friends and learning fun skills. For younger children, parents may wait in the waiting room. To prevent distraction for students and teachers, we discourage parents from sitting inside studios for children over 3–4 years old.

Question 9

How do we withdraw from classes if needed?

Accepted Answer

Please provide four weeks' notice in writing to your teacher or via email to our administration team.
