Highland is a style of competitive solo dancing developed in the Scottish Highlands in the nineteenth and twentieth century’s at competitive public events such as the Highland games.
It is often performed to the accompaniment of bagpipes & is now seen at nearly every modern-day Highland games event.
There are 4 highland dances – Fling, Sword Dance, Seann Triubhas and Reel. Alongside highland dance, our students study Scottish National Dances such as the Lilt, Flora, Highland Laddie and many more. Students are given the opportunity to compete in Highland Dance competitions if they are at the appropriate level.
